Caribbean class at SVG mini-expo

Early this month, Invest SVG held a mini-expo and trade fair at the Hyatt Regency hotel, Wrightson Road, Port-of-Spain, highlighting Vincentian products and services. Representatives in the fields of agriculture, agro-processing, tourism, real estate, fashion, craft and more came out to present their wares, and members of the public in T&T were invited to attend.

A FERRY SERVICE being mooted for the Eastern Caribbean could be better utilised transporting much needed and cheaper produce rather than people, says leading businessman Ralph "Bizzy" Williams, of Williams Industries Inc.

St Vincent wooing investors

THERE IS a wealth of investment opportunities in St Vincent and the Grenadines (SVG), says a visiting contingent from that island.

Acting executive director of Invest SVG, Cleo Huggins, is leading a delegation of about ten members, representative of both the public and private sector, on a mission to make the rest of the Caribbean aware of exactly what St Vincent offers.

The officials spent two days in Barbados and will travel to Trinidad and Tobago today.

Tourism bodies launched

SVGThe St. Vincent and the Grenadines Tourism Authority (SVGTA) and the National Parks Rivers and Beaches Authority (NPRBA) are now official bodies. The two bodies were launched Thursday July 2, 2009 at the National Insurance Services (NIS).

Guest Speaker, Minister of Tourism Glen Beache, praised both for their hard work in the tourism industry. Beache said he was confident the "best statutory bodies in St. Vincent and the Grenadines" could face tourism challenges.

Local Hotel & Tourism Association Newsletter Cops Regional Award

During the recently concluded Annual Convention of the 32-member Caribbean Society of Hotel Association Executives (CSHAE) which was held at the Orlando Convention Centre in Orlando, Florida, the St. Vincent and the Grenadines Hotel & Tourism Association’s quarterly newsletter – SVGHTA News – received the coveted regional Printed Newsletter Newsworthy Award for 2009. In 2007, this newsletter received the Newsworthy Award for Excellence in Tourism Awareness.
